All referees Australia are members of a referees organisation, which may exist at a state or local level. These organisations coordinate the training and development of referees and generally also appoint them to matches. They may be a part of a football association or an independent group, affiliated to the Football Federation Australia (FFA) through their state football body.

Queries about refereeing at a local level should be directed to the appropriate group as below. The FFA is responsible for the management of referees on the Hyundai A-League and the selection of officials for the international FIFA panel. AusRef can also assist with general inquiries but not anything specific to individual leagues (eg. complaints or requests).
